Top 5 Luxury iPad Cases
The Apple iPad is guaranteed to be top of a lot of Christmas lists this year, and the perfect accompaniment would be a luxury case to personalise and protect it. Here are our top 5 iPad cases that really make a statement…
David August Alligator Skin Case
The California-based boutique that caters for the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and various billionaires has created the most expensive iPad case in the world. The case is priced at $6,900, making it 14 times more expensive than the 16GB iPad model. It comes as part of a new collection of exotic leather goods, including a laptop case, Dopp kit, watch holder and a change tray, that comes in 20 different colours. The case was crafted out of the world’s finest alligator skin, was hand cut and stitched in Italy and is on a strict made to order basis.
Sena Keyboard Case
This leather case heightens the iPad’s similarities to an actual laptop with its Bluetooth integrated keyboard. The case has a book-style folding design and has a collapsible back stand which stands while holding the iPad, making it easier to watch videos, and view slideshows, photos and presentations at a proper angle. It also has a velvet protective lining on the inside and multiple pockets for cards and IDs. The keyboard case is available in 4 colours and is priced at $129.99.
Vers Wood Case
This solid wood shellcase stands out as contemporary and unique amongst the other cases on the market, providing both protection and versatility at $80. It also has the addition of a metal foot, which allows you to stand your iPad in either a portrait or landscape position to watch movies or write emails. It comes in Cherry or Walnut coloured hardwood, or you can choose to get a Bamboo case. It is steel-reinforced for added strength against damaging your iPad, and also has openings for a charger or speaker connection. There are also matching earphones available for $50.
Tod’s iPad Case
Previously the most expensive in the world before being recently surpassed by David August, the case costs $4,900 – 10 times the price of the 16GB iPad. The Italian luxury firm, Tod’s offers 4 different designs – a supple calf skin case (priced at $495), or 3 genuine alligator skin versions in Brown, Blue and Tan. Tod’s also launched an iPad App alongside the case called My Life is in This Bag, which allows the user to enter and experience the world of Tod’s and browse the brand’s latest collections.
Dunhill iPad Case
This is a more traditional and characteristic take on the iPad case offering a decorative, but still protective design. The cover features a letter print, addressed to “Alfred Dunhill” with a book strap motif. It is part of the Spring/Summer 2011 Collection and is made of thick, cream-crafted leather. Using Dunhill’s Custom Leather Programme, you can also have your own name and address engraved on the case for an extra personalisation.
