The Streets of Monaco – the world’s first hyperyacht

Posted by in Façonnable Lifestyle | Comments Off

As expected the Monaco Yacht Show 2010 was an array of spectacular yacht structures, but seeing is definitely believing where “The Streets of Monaco” hyper yacht design concept is concerned.

Modelled after a section of downtown Monte Carlo, “The Streets of Monaco” is complete with replica buildings and a go-kart track inspired by the city’s iconic grand prix circuit. The yacht contains staterooms for 16 guests, crew’s quarters for 70 people, a movie theatre, helipad, submarine dock, waterfalls and much more. It is 155 metres in length and is estimated at half the size of an aircraft carrier or cruise ship. It is also split into 4 major external deck spaces. This innovative design combines naval architecture, actual architecture and city planning, where buildings replace decks and beaches are created in the place of swimming pools.

The design is still a concept devised by UK-based Yacht Island Design and remains on paper for the moment. Directors Rob McPherson and Scott Poxon have truly pushed boundaries with this design, stating that “The art of producing a themed yacht is to seamlessly weave a story into every element of the design.” The team is confident that the project could become realty and are currently seeking to comply with all regulations, particularly those that involve safety.
