The QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup returns for its 46th edition in October and the Cote d’Azur has been chosen as the centre of the world’s leading bowlers.

Having recently been relocated from Zagreb, Croatia, it is to take place in Toulon, Provence at the western end of the French Riviera. This charming area is also renowned as a major centre for fishing and winemaking. The World Cup will be held at the Bowling de Provence bowling club, a sports club that boasts around 44 bowling lanes. It is also the third time that France has welcomed the Bowling World Cup, having taken place in Paris in 1967 and then again in LeMans in 1992.

As of 26th September 2010, 147 players, 81 men and 66 women are registered to compete, and around 80 different countries are set to enter the tournament. The men and women will bowl in separate divisions and will compete in an intense competition that spans 6 days. During this time, the bowlers will have to compete in preliminaries that consist of 4 blocks of 5 games, the top 24 men and top 24 women after 20 games will then advance to the intermediate round where they will bowl another 8 games. The top 8 men and top 8 women after 28 games will then play another 8-game block to determine the top 3 who will compete to be the champions of the World Cup. Caroline Lagrange of Canada and Choi Yong-Kyu of Korea were crowned the 2009 champions.

Nearby resort, Club Lou Pigno is serving as the official hotel for the event, providing an “Olympic – style” village with a bar and nightly entertainment for hosts, competitors and guests. It was recently refurbished inside and out and launched its new look on 10th September, just in time for the Cup. It is also offering a World Cup package that includes accommodation, breakfast and evening buffet meals, entry to the welcome reception and victory banquet, admission and free transport to the bowling centre.

The QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup 2010 is being held on 15th – 24th October, with the actual competition commencing between 17th and 23rd October.
