A train establishing a direct link between Moscow and the French Riviera was launched in September 2010 and is set to fulfil a growing demand for luxury railway travel in Russia.

The route between Russia and France has existed since the late 19th Century and was used to transport wealthy Russians to resorts along the Cote d’Azur, but it was then abandoned in 1914. The 12-car train will depart once a week and will travel a distance of 3,000 miles. The journey takes just over 50 hours to reach its final destination in Nice, including stopovers in Belarus, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy and France.
