Façonnable’s collection of rugby shirts – Rugby Union and the Olympics

Posted by in Façonnable Lifestyle | Comments Off

Light, cool, airy, and effortlessly chic radiates from the attire of the stylish athletes seen training on the Cote d’Azur this summer. For the duration of the summer these stylish sportsmen and women have been a regular feature of the Promenade de Anglais in Nice and the Promenade de la Croisette in Cannes, the gentle sea breeze wafting from the glistening Mediterranean, providing some relief from the scorching temperatures the south of France has baked under this summer.

This cool, light and airy style is and underlying component of Façonnable’s 2012 range of rugby shirts. These elegant rugby shirts have been crafted with painstaking attention to detail, sporting our signature colourful flags and graphic lettering, creating an identifiable Façonnable look.

After making its debut onto the Olympic programme in 1900 at the Paris Olympic Games, rugby union was played in every Olympics until 1924. Shortly after the 1924 Games, which were also held in Paris, the International Olympic Committee dropped rugby union from the Olympic programme.

Whilst rugby union was absent from this year’s London Olympics, rugby fans can rejoice somewhat as wheelchair rugby is being played at the 2012 Paralympic Games.

From 5 – 9 September, eight highly motivated teams will battle it out for gold in what promises to be a thrilling tournament.
