“Floating Hotel” opens in Thailand

Hilton Hotels & Resorts have unveiled a stunning ‘floating’ hotel in Pattaya Thailand for cosmopolitan visitors to the resort.

The hotel is named Hilton Pattaya and promises to offer a new kind of beachfront experience to the heart of the popular beach resort of Pattaya, which was once a sleepy fishing village. The Hilton Pattaya rises above the new “Central Festival at Pattaya Beach” complex – Southeast Asia’s largest beachfront shopping and entertainment facility. It has over 200 shops and restaurants, a 10 screen cinema and a 16 lane bowling alley, which guests will have direct access to.

A timeless take on the traditional clock

The Carbon Design Group has managed to manipulate the somewhat dull image of the domino, and pull it into the 21st Century with this innovative approach to keeping track of the time. This prototype of a wall clock consists of 3 large domino bricks with circles that flip from black to white when the time changes. The 12 dots on each domino create an easy and decorative way to tell the time.

Phallic art – Artistically pleasing or distasteful and vulgar?

The controversy caused by the Morten Traavik Skin-Coloured Machine Gun being designed for the Norwegian Armed Forces Museum has sparked a debate over the ‘tastefulness’ of phallic art.

The controversial machine gun comprises of as many sexual organs as one could care to image, including buttocks, nipples and a penis-shaped barrel. Although the conservative Norwegians obviously cannot understand the ‘artistic qualities’ of such work, as the museum would not permit the Russian president to see Morten Traaviks’ satirical machine gun, when he recently made a visit to the museum.
