Posted by in Celebrity Looks and News | Comments Off

Veteran actor, Robert De Niro has been handed the prestigious title chair of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

The 67 year old actor is the 3rd American in 3 years to lead the 9 member jury after director, Tim Burton in 2010 and actor, Sean Penn in 2008. De Niro has expressed his gratitude by saying “The Cannes Film Festival is a rare opportunity for me as it is one of the oldest and one of the best in the world.” The organisers of the festival have said that they wanted to honour him not only for his acting talent, but also for his work in co-founding the Tribeca Film Festival in his native New York back in 2002.

The Streets of Monaco – the world’s first hyperyacht

Posted by in Façonnable Lifestyle | Comments Off

As expected the Monaco Yacht Show 2010 was an array of spectacular yacht structures, but seeing is definitely believing where “The Streets of Monaco” hyper yacht design concept is concerned.

Modelled after a section of downtown Monte Carlo, “The Streets of Monaco” is complete with replica buildings and a go-kart track inspired by the city’s iconic grand prix circuit. The yacht contains staterooms for 16 guests, crew’s quarters for 70 people, a movie theatre, helipad, submarine dock, waterfalls and much more. It is 155 metres in length and is estimated at half the size of an aircraft carrier or cruise ship. It is also split into 4 major external deck spaces. This innovative design combines naval architecture, actual architecture and city planning, where buildings replace decks and beaches are created in the place of swimming pools.

The Garia LSV golf cart

Posted by in Façonnable Lifestyle | Comments Off

The ‘world’s most exclusive’ golf cart, the Garia LSV can now be taken off the golf course and onto the streets, as it has literally become ‘road legal’. Built in the same factory as the Porsche Boxter, consisting of Formula 1-inspired suspension, a Ducati gearbox and having the same aluminum profile supplier as Jaguar and Aston Martin, it is not difficult to realise that the Garia Golf Cart is a ‘cut above’ your average golf cart. The 5 most exciting luxury cars of 2011

Posted by in Façonnable Inspirations | Comments Off

Aston Martin Cygnet – Aston Martin’s new release is the smallest Aston so far. The “baby swan” is certainly no ugly duckling, just nice and compact. UK built and possibly far too small for the Yanks, as a result, this micro sportster will only be available in Europe.

The Cygnet is under ten feet long so parking will be easy, and with low emissions in mind, this is going to be a favourite with city dwellers.

Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible – The hardtop Supersports is a beast of a car, the convertible is as exciting with the added bonus of having two passenger seats in the back. It’s only right, having this much fun needs to be shared.

The fastest ever Bentley Continental just got a little sexier.

Lexus LFA – This supercar from the Japanese carmaker is part of its F performance project. Toyota need something good in their line up after a disastrous 2010, the LFA is it. Lexus can no longer be considered a budget alternative to real luxury.

The Lexus LFA is capable of 0 – 60 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph. Orders are being taken now, with only 500 being produced. And good news! The brakes should work fine with this one…

Ford Mustang 2011 – The roar of a mustang is a wonderful sound. This beefed up Mustang has the signature growl and with 305 horse power V6 engine, it has the performance.

Staggering fact – 31 mpg (Mustang, 31 mpg?!!) makes this an amazing car for 2011.

Ferrari FF concept 4 x 4 – Still only a concept car, but this is receiving huge interest, so I think eventual production is a cert. This Ferrari will comfortably seat four plus luggage and is said to drive superbly well on all terrains.

Ferrari purist’s will hate it in the same way Porsche enthusiast’s did with the Cayenne and all for the same reasons. Should Ferrari delve into the 4 x 4 market? It’s a bit like Black Sabbath recording folk music, but in the same way, the results are going to be very interesting.

Luxury bathtub technology

Posted by in Façonnable Lifestyle | (1) Comment

Taking a long, hot soak in the bathtub has long been associated with luxury and relaxation. Dimming the lights, surrounding the bath with candles and having soft melodies gently purring on in the background takes bath time indulgence to even further levels. But how about taking this seventh-heaven scenario to even greater heights of luxury?

Investing in a Glowing Bath may be the answer to those yearning for an ultra-relaxing and luxurious soak. This unique bathtub was designed by Melissa Sopel, a Reece Bathroom Innovation Award 2010 finalist. Ms Sopel acquired inspiration for the design from the soothing effects of having a bath in candlelight.
