With a phenomenal amount of catwalk shows and festivals, September looks set to rock the world of fashion across the globe and is an exciting month of the worldwide fashion calendar. We look at the five of the best fashion events scheduled for September 2011.
Semana Internacional de la Moda, Madrid September 1 – 3, 2011
Held at the Parque Ferial Juan Carlos in Madrid, the Semana Internacional de la Moda has become a showcase for fashion designers to promote their forthcoming products, projects and collections. This pulsating fashion event grows each year and last year more than 4,000 visitors flocked to the Ferial Juan Carlos to get a glimpse of the latest fashion coming from one of the world’s leading fashion capitals.
St. Pete Art & Fashion Week, St. Petersburg September 6 – 10, 2011
St. Pete Art & Fashion Week is one of the biggest fashion and art events of the year, attracting some of the most influential designers, buyers, media, artists and models from all over the world. Up and coming designers are encouraged to head to St. Petersburg this September to show off their spring/summer collections.
New York Fashion Week, New York September 8 – 15, 2011
Twice a year designers, editors, celebrities, buyers, journalists, models and socialites gather in New York for the biggest event of the global fashion calendar. This highly publicised event gives both American and international designers, ranging from Zac Posen to Oscar de la Renta, the opportunity to showcase their Autumn/Winter collections to the most influential in the industry, and, of course, the worldwide media.
London Fashion Week, London September 16 – 21, 2011
Alongside New York Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week, the London Fashion Week is one of the “Big Four” in fashion events. Since it was founded in 1984, the London Fashion Week has generated a huge sphere of interest and is attended by over 5,000 press and buyers, and has estimated orders of £40 – £100 million.
The venue for the phenomenal fashion week takes place in Somerset House in central London, where a huge marquee hosts some sensational catwalk shows by the world’s best fashion houses and designers.
Cork Fashion Week, Cork September 24 – 25
Cork’s premier fashion event sees designers and the industry’s most important figures from Ireland and beyond flock to Cork to witness an event that supports young designers, as well as established brands, stylists, makeup artists, fashion professionals and local boutiques.
