During the successful fundraising event for Japan hosted with GR8 Miami
MIAMI – March 28, 2011 – Responding to the tragic events unfolding in Japan, ATP World Tour #2 Singles Player Novak Djokovic teamed with GR8 Miami to hold a fundraising event on Wednesday, March 23rd, during the first week of the Sony Ericsson Open. The event, which was attended by more than 200 supporters, was preceded by a charity soccer match putting Djokovic and other ATP tennis stars against local pro soccer team, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. Together the two events raised around $90,000 for Japan relief.
The exclusive after-party, held at the new JW Marriott Marquis, featured fundraising opportunities including a silent auction and donations to the Red Cross Japan disaster relief effort. Also on hand at the event to show support for his homeland was Japan’s Kei Nishikori, who has been actively raising funds through his own online auction. The hugely successful event was organized and sponsored by GR8 Miami, a new luxury concierge and event planning company.
“I want to thank everyone who made the charity event for Japan here in Miami a big success. The soccer match was great and the charity dinner afterwards could not have been any better,” said Novak Djokovic. “The JW Marriott Marquis did an amazing job and donating that dinner to all those guests was a very significant donation of over $30,000. On the other hand GR8 Miami put up a great event and they proved that in Miami they are the ones to contact for luxury concierge matters. And in the end, the important thing is the amount raised in order to help people in Japan through the Red Cross. Once again thanks for everything to this great team.”
Remarking its unique role in the luxury menswear with its “modern-classic” signature, Façonnable continues to strengthen its presence within the tennis world which is traditionally marked by the long-time Monte-Carlo Tennis Tournament sponsorship.
